For many people, online shopping is not only convenient, but also more affordable. Many online shops offer products for extremely reduced rates, which is great for customers, but not so great for competitors and especially for local small businesses.
When comparing web hosting prices to shop rent, the numbers are drastically different. It is far more affordable (and convenient) to own an online shop, vs renting a space locally. With this in mind it is easy to see how online shop owners can under-price products. Many probably don’t even realize how this affects local small businesses.
I work for a small business owner, and I have seen the effects of online shopping. My boss is not going to sell books at her shop anymore, and I can’t say that I blame her. With the rising popularity of ebook readers, as well as discounted books on sites like Amazon.com, its no wonder why borders went out of business, and why book sales in the shop I work at have declined.
Eventually many ‘small businesses’ will be online, and why not? You have the potential to gain more clients and possibly even international clients.
The purpose of this post is not to take one side over the other. I want to be a small business owner (someday) and of course have my shop available online.
My intent with this post is to make people aware, and hope they’ll balance online shopping with supporting their local businesses. Otherwise, you might decide one day to visit your favorite local shop, and they might not be there anymore.

There are many misconceptions about Introverts. I recently found an interesting article (via one of my fb friends), that dispels some of the common myths about Introverts. In his Article, Carl argues that Introversion is a result of a sensitivity to the chemical Dopamine.

I am completely inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, specifically Winter. I have loved the four seasons, since I was in High School Orchestra. I have always wanted to play the solo for Winter! ;)
Anyway, I am currently inspired to paint while listening to Four Seasons- Winter. I suppose we’ll see what I come up with! :)
